The short answer. Buy a PMR02 daily permit for $10 at any pay station in the Plateau. Put the receipt on your dashboard, street side, and you can park on any resident-only street east of Saint-Denis for 24 hours. The hostel, at 4460 avenue Christophe-Colomb, is in that area.
Which permit
| Code | Price | Where it is valid |
|---|---|---|
| PMR02 | $10 | Resident-only (SRRR) streets east of rue Saint-Denis, not on Saint-Denis itself. Covers the hostel's area. |
| PMR01 | $16 | Resident-only streets anywhere in the Plateau-Mont-Royal. |
How to tell a resident-only street: read the parking sign. If it says the spot is reserved for permit holders of a numbered zone, your PMR permit works there.
Where to buy it
- Any pay station in the borough sells it, day or night. It is not sold in the Mobicité app.
- The two closest to the hostel are among the stations recently added on residential streets: 1160 rue Gilford (about 400 m away) and 1501 rue Marie-Anne Est (about 500 m away).
How it works
- At the pay station, enter the zone: PMR02 (or PMR01).
- Pay, and print the receipt.
- Put it on your dashboard, on the street side. No receipt showing means a fine.
- It is valid for 24 hours from printing. Staying longer? Buy a new one each day.
Where it does not work
- Regular paid spots (meters), even ones whose sign mentions permit holders.
- Rue Saint-Denis itself, with a PMR02.
From November: snow removal
Temporary signs go up before the snow is cleared, and they override every other sign. For night clearing (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) they go up before 3 p.m. the same day; for day clearing, the evening before. Cars left in place are towed and fined. If yours disappears, call 311.
